7 Ideas for Things to do at a Graduation Party
A graduation party is the best way to celebrate the culmination of years of education. It’s never too early to start planning and book a date at a venue! If not sure where to begin, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Our blog 5 Things to Consider When Planning a Graduation Party walks you through some of the most important details for planning your celebration. Our biggest tip is to get out of your living room and host the party at a dedicated event venue like NOAH’S. This way you’ll have the space to truly celebrate, and you’ll also get a few perks as well. All squared away on the planning basics? Awesome. Now let’s get to the content of your party and what you will actually do during it. These games and activities will make your celebration totally unforgettable.
#1 Class Stations
This one is going to require some space. Our NOAH’S Main Hall or various party rooms would be perfect. The idea here is to set up different stations for different classes in school. At the science station, party guests can mix their own fizzy concoctions with an Italian soda bar. For art class, guests can draw a silly portrait of the grad. Gym class, of course, takes place on the dance floor. For history class, guests can learn fun trivia about the grad when they were growing up. Fill up the room with every class you can think of and encourage guests to visit each table.
#2 Guess the Job
For this game, you’ll need a list of different majors or jobs. Put them on slips of paper in a hat and divide party guests into teams. The idea here is simply to get your team to guess the job before the other side does. The fun part comes when you add some difficulties such as requiring guests to draw the job, act it out, or describe it using only one word at a time. Think of a few restrictions, and then assign each one to a number. Before each round, the competitors roll a dice to see what they will need to do to get their team to guess. The team that gets the most correct wins!
#3 Winner Ceremony
If you have a favorite party game that isn’t exactly graduation themed, you can still play it. If you need some ideas, we’ve gathered a list of chill games on our blog of 7 Family Friendly Party Games That Are Actually Fun. To add a graduation themed twist, you can have a “graduation” ceremony at the end of each game and present the winner or winners with “diplomas” to honor their victory.
#4 Who Knows the Grad Best
This blog of 26 Insanely Creative High School Graduation Party Ideas from By Sophia Lee has some great ideas! My favorite was the graduate questionnaire. These simple templates allow guests to take their best guess about the grad when they were in school and answer questions at their table. You could make your own template with whatever questions you prefer or use this template that Sophia’s blog links to. Whoever gets the most right wins a prize! Simple, easy, and fun.
#5 Time Capsule
Making a time capsule from each year the grad was in school is a really sweet option to celebrate and create a fun keepsake at the same time. You can either assign a year to each guest or choose a special person in their life for each year, such as grandparents, siblings, or friends. Ask the assigned guests to bring an item to remember each year of school, whether that is simply something to represent that year or something specific to the grad from that year. Use the elevated stage in our Main Hall at NOAH’S Event Venue to put the grad up in front of everyone during their graduation party and invite each participant in the time capsule to explain the item. Fun, sweet, and easy!
#6 Outdoor Fun
Give yourself even more opportunities for fun games by hosting part of your party on our Outdoor Patio. This blog of 10 Graduation Party Games Perfect for Outdoor Grad Parties by Cassidy Lucille offers some great ideas! A bean bag, ring, or ladder toss would be great options. Even if you don’t have any games, you can simply include some lemonade or cold drinks outside and encourage guests to chat and soak in the sun.
Let guests have the opportunity to give advice to the new grad. There are tons of ways to do this, such as leaving cards like these next to a jar or on tables. Whether funny or sweet, the grad will certainly love reading through their loved ones advice for them.
