DIY Ping Pong Ball Lights
If you’re hosting a summer bash this year, we’re sure you’ve been scouring the internet for pretty and unique ways to add some light. While NOAH’S Event Venue offers sleek, chic, elegant, and whimsical lighting choices for indoor events, we know that sometimes you want to take advantage of the warm summer air and host a BBQ or tailgate party on NOAH’S Outdoor Patio, using a grill in the parking lot to cook up those yummy summertime dishes.
Ping Pong Ball lights are the trend that never ceases to occupy the party scene! And why would they? These cute DIY lights are loved for the charming vintage-inspired atmosphere they create and how simple they are to make. Drape these lights in front of NOAH’S for a fun summery entrance or string them over our Outdoor Patio, either way, spare your own backyard from Uncle Jim’s constant rough-housing. Yeah, sorry, Uncle Jim, not my lawn this time! Anyway, if Ping Pong Ball lights match your style, get ready to check them off your DIY decor list; because we’re going to walk you step-by-step through the process!
- As many LED Christmas lights as needed to decorate the space (LED lights generate less heat and won’t pose a threat of flammability)
- Ping Pong Balls (one for each individual Christmas light)
- X-Acto knife or box-cutter
Step 1: Test the lights to make sure they all work. It would be a real pain to make a whole strand of ping pong ball lights just to find out that half of the strand won’t turn on.
Step 2: Take your knife and cut a small X in a ping pong ball—about 1 cm across.
Step 3: Push one bulb through the X until the bulb is completely hidden inside the ping pong ball.
Step 4: Keep going until all your lights have ping pong ball caps.
Step 5: Decorate!
This DIY craft is quick, easy, and surprisingly fun, but the lights won’t look cheap at a birthday party, graduation party, or a just-for-fun party. We love the old-fashioned bistro vibe they create, perfect for dancing under the stars or getting one last cheeseburger off the grill!
Your summer event doesn’t have to look like every other run-of-the-mill BBQ on Pinterest; DIY decor options like this really elevate a party space without a lot of work or money.
