MISTAKE 1: FOLLOWING THE BEATEN PATH
Let your wedding celebrate you! Try to envision your dream wedding before you look to the season’s most popular trends. Make a list of everything you imagine for your wedding day so you can refer back to it. Once you have done that, then turn to Pinterest and other wedding sources to give you additional inspiration and ideas. Guests love to attend a wedding that is a reflection of the couple. Unique details and customized touches make your wedding different and memorable.

MISTAKE 2: INFLEXIBLE WEDDING DATE
Unless you absolutely have your heart set on a specific date try to be flexible. This will open up a lot of options with your favorite venues, caterers and other wedding vendors. If you are willing to have your wedding on a weekday, Friday or Sunday you will find lower-priced opportunities to match your rapidly diminishing budget.

MISTAKE 3: AWKWARD WEDDING DAY TIMELINE
Thoughtfully organize your wedding day timeline. Not only does it need to consider your vendor’s timelines, but your guests as well. The wedding day festivities should be spaced far enough apart or close enough together that it is convenient for those attending, especially the wedding party. If meals are not being provided, be sure to leave sufficient time for members of the wedding party to fuel and stay energized! Carefully planning the flow of your wedding day will ease stress and unnecessary chaos.

MISTAKE 4: WEAK WEDDING REGISTRY
Now more than ever people prefer to do their shopping online, especially for weddings. Online shopping is great for traveling guests as well as those who aren’t able to attend the wedding festivities. This means that guests are actually going to buy you what you put on your wedding registry! Take the time to thoughtfully plan out your wedding registry. Be specific. If you aren’t in need of household items let people know that you would prefer to receive gift cards or other monetary gifts.

MISTAKE 5: PLANNING BEFORE BUDGETING
Decide on your wedding budget before you start making plans. The budget will affect almost every choice you make during the wedding planning process. Consider what each family would like to contribute as well as you and your significant other. Sometimes family members would like to contribute by paying for a specific event or item like a wedding dress or a rehearsal dinner. If you start shopping around before you’ve set your budget you might fall in love with something you simply can’t afford.
