7 Wedding Hacks For The Best Big Day Ever

Let’s be honest, if you are planning a wedding, you have a LOT going on. It’s easy to let some little things slip through the cracks. Here at NOAH’S Event Venue, we’ve come up with a few wedding hacks to help make your day more stress-free, more enjoyable, and all-around better. At this point, you may be cautious. Is this one of those annoying “hack” compilations that are at best unhelpful and at worst categorically false? Don’t worry, this is the real deal. Keep reading to check these out! (Trust me, you’ll be grateful.)
Have Ushers for Ceremony Seating
Allowing guests to sit anywhere they want for your ceremony is super on-trend right now. After all, you want everyone to feel included and not pressured. We love this idea! However, if you are going to go for this idea, you need to be cautious. With no ushers or direction, people tend to sit toward the back of the room and outside of the aisle. This means that you run the risk of the front and middle looking empty in all of your pictures. To avoid this, we recommend having ushers encouraging people to sit in the front and middle sections and then to fill in the rest as people arrive. That way your photos will be full and beautiful for that first kiss.
Schedule A Separate Photo Shoot
Yes, you should take photos on your wedding day. Of course! But what if the weather is bad? What if your photographer knows of this great place that’s just a little too far to get back in time for your reception? Scheduling a separate shooting day for just you, your partner, and your photographer is a great idea. This allows you to take the pressure off of those day-of photos. You can take your time and be sure that you get all of those precious keepsakes. Whether you decide to do this before or after your wedding day, knowing that you have more time with your photographer will take tons of pressure off of that big day and allow you to relax and enjoy.
Include Ceremony Marks
This wedding hack will also help make sure you get that perfect shot for your vows. It’s easy to get a little askew in the big moment, what with bridesmaids and groomsmen and your officiant lining up at the front for your ceremony. However, you want everything and everyone to be evenly spaced and for you to be in the center for your photos. Our simple trick? Tape on the floor (yep, borrowing this one from the theatre). A little mark telling each member of the bridal party where to stand will help ensure that everyone is evenly spaced and that you are perfectly centered for the big moment.
Hold it all at One Location
Traveling between spaces on your wedding day is killer— and not in that hip way people sometimes say negative words but mean them positively. Walking back and forth to cars, hoping for no bad traffic, touching up your attire and makeup between trips, finding a place to put all of your stuff, and ensuring every piece of decor is set up perfectly all while guests watch and wait is stressful! Avoid the unneeded hassle. Holding everything, including getting ready, the ceremony, and the reception, all in one location will make your big day so much smoother! Renting out extra space also means that you can leave things like your bags, a change of shoes, or other personal items tucked away in the dressing rooms for easy access whenever you need it. Can you already feel the stress melting away? The most important thing for this hack is to make sure that your venue can accommodate this. Here at NOAH’S, we have all you need to make your day relaxing and beautiful with our customizable rooms.
This hack comes straight from our blog 5 Tips to Save Money on Your Wedding (and if you are looking for more hacks, check it out. I definitely consider saving money in any way to be just a lifehack in general). Reusing a few key decor pieces is a great way to not only save some serious cash but create a sense of cohesion on your wedding day. If you had a stunning arch or backdrop for your ceremony, why not use that as a backdrop for your head table? One of my friends put the bridesmaid bouquets in pretty vases and used them as centerpieces for her tables. This way, the bridesmaids no longer have to carry around or find a place to stash their bouquets during the reception, and you don’t have to purchase extra flowers. So simple and so pretty!
Give The Guests Something to Do
We’ve probably all been to a few weddings where we sat awkwardly at our table unsure of exactly what to do as we wait for food or dancing (at least, I know I have). This one is a simple fix, just give the guests something to do. We’ve seen couples include “date jars” where guests contribute suggestions. We also love the idea of quizzes about the couple that guests can fill out at their table. Questions can include things like “where was their first date?” or “who said I love you first?”. These are genuinely fun and create an easy way to get guests who may not know each other talking. For more structured game options, you can have guests play pool or shuffleboard in our NOAH’S Game Room or set up cornhole on the patio. Of course, a photo booth is always a classic and fun option.
Prepare an Essentials Bag
Our final wedding hack is a true lifesaver. Gather a bag of anything and everything that you think you could need in a pinch and ask a member of your bridal party or family to be in charge of it for you on the big day. This bag can include water, snacks, a sewing kit, stain remover, safety pins, hairpins, makeup for touch-ups, painkillers, bandaids, deodorant, and anything else that comes to mind. Odds are you may not need any of these items, but at least you won’t have to wrestle with the dreaded “what if” or, even worse, have to track them down if something does come up. It is such a relief to have these close by. You can even lock them safely away in one of the dressing rooms at NOAH’S. This way they are out of sight but certainly not out of mind. Whether you are about to walk down the aisle, taking photos, or preparing for your first dance, you can lose the worry and focus on enjoying your best day ever. To help make preparing your essentials bag easy, we’ve created a convenient checklist. Download it at the bottom of this blog!
